Life is not a problem to be solved but a mystery to be lived. Follow the path that is no path, follow your bliss.  - Joseph Campbell

Campbell explained the wheel of life as he referred to a medireview drawing in which figures in various positions where hanging on to the wheel as it turned, while a serene female figure watched from the center, at the hub of the wheel. He advised that this drawing showed the way to inner peace, achieved by staying at the hub where only that which abides and what really matters rests. All else comes to pass and if we live on that outer edge we’ll always be going up or down and around, attached and reacting to the fleeting events of time. However, if we can project ourselves to the hub of our life and note what resides here, an equilibrium long sought for will be awaiting our arrival. As a coping method in an increasingly busy world, this is a wonderful beacon to me. Taking a deep breath takes me back to the present and allows me the space to gather my scattered energies in order to consider my options, which now includes choosing the view from the hub. This place provides substantial ground under my feet. Deciphering what is constant and enduring in my life has become a poignant meditation. It also provides a sure foil for any threat of feeling victim to the unkind whims of those passing through.
